While Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail has already been certified platinum by the new RIAA rule change, the album—released exclusively to Samsung phone users July 4—has officially hit stores today (July 9).
Billboard reports that the album will sell between 350-400k in its first week, based partly on pre-orders from digital retailers, thus making it his 13th number one on the Top 200. Should he occupy the top slot, Hov would be second only to the Beatles for most no. 1 albums.
On Monday (July 9), Jay celebrated the release of MCHG with a rare and rather lengthy Twitter appearance by answering questions from fans and creating personalized hashtags like #factsonly, #newrules, #mylaugh to name a few.
