Kanye West has been charged for attacking a cameraman at LAX earlier this summer. According to TMZ, Kanye has been charged with criminal battery and attempted grand theft for the incident, which took place July 19. These are apparently misdemeanors, as prosecutors refused to file felony charges back in August. He will be arraigned October 10. If convicted of the charges, Kanye faces a maximum of one year in jail.
This was the second of two paparazzi encounters within a week. In the first incident, Kanye was being asked a question by a photographer, but promptly interrupted him, saying “Don’t talk ever again.” This time, after warning the photographer several times not to speak to him, Kanye decided to lunge at him and grab the camera.
The photographer has already filed a lawsuit against Kanye.
Several weeks ago, Kanye spoke about his issues with paparazzi with Kris Jenner on her talk show, saying that they catch him in compromising situations and that their harrassment could lead to serious injury to him or his family.
And of course, this is not the first time Kanye has faced criminal charges for attacking a photographer. Kanye was arrested over four years ago after snatching a camera and smashing it on the floor of LAX.
